Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
