Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
