Seems like most individuals are often talking about pre-flop system, so I wanted to speak a tiny bit about how I bet on following the flop. Maybe I can help others, or maybe they’ve got advice to improve my play.
I imagine that 2 of the most critical plays following the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. That’s because these are the plays you produce whenever you havent hit a hand except you’ve a fine drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand if you flop a monster. But I consider that these two are the ideal techniques to bet on a drawing. Each one is played depending on you competition(s) and your postion. So here’s how I bet on it, so tell me what you think.
Early Location – Tight Competitors:
A semi-bluff works fairly well in this position. Are available out gambling and if a tight gambler did not hit a hand he will most likely lay down, and if he is unsure you may perhaps acquire a call. But watch out, if that tight gambler comes back over the top it may be time to acquire away.
Early Position – Loose Opponents
This really is had been I like to complete a defensive bet. Determine how several chips you are willing to chance on your draw and bet. This is usually a much smaller bet than normal. It’s been my experience that the loose player will usually just call a wager instead of re-raise. Nonetheless, should you check to them, theyre much more likely to throw in additional chips than your willing to pay.
Late Location – Tight Competitors
That is the very best time to perform a semi-bluff, specifically if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has bet, you could have to come to a decision if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll probably go away since he was trying to steal the pot. If you think he does, well then it’s time to determine your odds, and decide if the pot odds are worth the call.
Late Position – Loose Competitors
This one is really a bit challenging, because it is tougher to put a loose gambler on a hand. And if your in late location against loose gambler, chances are they have already wager. This is were I usually come to a decision to take a chance and are available back over the best of them and hope they don’t call, and if they do, well then its time to wager. Chances are though even a loose player will go away in the event you are available back strong enough.
Keep in mind although that these are moves I only make right after the flop comes and I have a reasonable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Perhaps four to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
