Stu is thought to be by most to the greatest NL Texas hold’em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in ‘53 and started betting poker before reaching his teens.

The young gambler began betting gin and at the age of ten had won his initial gin tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the time he turned 14 the little poker maestro had become a pro and stopped going to school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The quick speaking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to sporting superstars such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a true skill for wagering poker except despite his successes in Holdem poker, he favored playing gin.

Stu once said that there might several day be a better No Limit Hold’em gambler than him except he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a far better gin player.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Hold em Poker players in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.

The right after year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by effectively defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

But this poker master also struggled with substance abuse and a year after succeeding his third title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to medical professionals, he had passed away from a heart attack which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with absolutely nothing but his ability and expertise for the game which made this poker fantastic a millionaire several times over.
