Web poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with 21 than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little conniving or other types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up prior to the dealer broadcasting "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the other gamblers are given five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s 1st card, you need to either make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s value is akin to your original ante, indicating that the risks will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your ante goes directly to the dealer. After the wager comes the showdown. If the dealer does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including a sum equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The house pays money equal to your bet and controlled expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
