Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
