Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
