Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
