Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players around the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
