Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
